CHAIR AT KNOX COLLEGE.

STUDIES IN NEW TESTAMENT. REV. J. COLLIE APPOINTED. 1 (By Telegraph.—Press Association); DUNEDIN, Friday. At the Presbyterian Assembly to-day it was moved by the Rev. E. J. Tipler, convener of the theological committee, that the Rev. John Collie, as nominated by the Otago Synod, be appointed professor of New Testament studies in the Theological Hall, Dunedin, in succession to the late Professor R. E. Davies. The resolution was seconded by the Rev. D. C. Herron, of Auckland, and carried unanimously. It was reported that there were some 40 men at the university studying for the ministry, and that fifteen new candidates were offering for the ministry. Legacies of upwards of £3000, including one of £2000, had been recently received from Auckland for bursaries for divinity students.
