After a very busy week, the port is being gradually cleared of overseas ships. The Qolden West sailed for Wellington and the Ferndale for Brisbane last evening, followed by the Largo Law for New Plymouth this morning, and the Weirbank for Makatea to-night, while the Valesia and Canadian Explorer are to be dispatched for the South to-morrow. Two passenger ships are due from Sydney next week, the R.M.in.s. Aorangi on JMonday, and the steamer Mararria the following * day. The Aorangi resumes her voj'age to Vancouver on Tuesday morning. From Wellington, via Bluff, the Union Co.'B passenger steamer Maheno is due at Melbourne to-day. In continuation of her voyage from New York, the Cunard steamer Valaola is to sail for Wellington, Lytteltoa and Punedln at daybreak to-morrow. The Norwegian motor ship Ferndale sailed last evening for Brisbane, to continue discharge of her cargo from Gull oi Mexico and Pacific Coast ports. To complete discharge of her general cargo from the Pacific Coast, the 0, and O. Line steamer Golden West sailed yesterday afternoon for Wellington and Lyttelton. The New Zealand Shipping Company's motor ship Rangitane, which left Wellington for Southampton and London on Saturday last, reports: "Fine weather; all well. Arriving from Suva this morning, the Colonial Sugar Refining Company's steamer Rona berthed at Chelsea to discharge her cargo of raw sugar. From here she goes to Sydney. ULIMAROA FOR SYDNEY. On her return trip to Sydney, the Hud-dart-Parker steamer Ulimaro.i was to leave for Wellington at noon to-day. She is due at Sydney next Tuesday moruiug, and sails for Auckland the following Friday. JIARAMA FROM SYDNEY. With passengers, mails and cargo for Auckland, the Union Company's 6teamer Marama is to leave Sydney this afternoon. She is due here nexj; Tuesday morning, and sails'agaln for Sydney the following Friday. SOMERSET'S ITINERARY. Now loading at Nelson for New York, Halifax and London, the Federal steamer Somerset is to fill up at Wanganul, Napier, Gisborne, Tokomaru Bay and Auckland. She is. due here on March 22, and sails for New York on March 26. PORT CAROLINE LOADS. Due at Auckland from Australia on March 20, the Commonwealth and Dominion Line steamer Port Caroline 2s to load for London here and at Gisborne, Waikakopu, Napier and Wellington. She sails finally from Wellington on April 5. LARGO LAW SAILED. To put out the remainder of her cargo of basic slag from Antwerp, the steamer Largo Law sailed for New Plymouth this morniug. After discharge at New Plymouth' she is to go to Westpu'rr fur bunkers, and thence to Makatea to load phosphate for Australia. WEIRBANK REFUELS. Having completed discharge of her cargo of Peruvian sugar, the motor ship Weirbank shifted from Chelsea ro the Western wharf this morning to, refuel. She is to sail this evening for Makatea to load phosphate for Auckland and Lytteiton. THE MAUI POMARE. Having left Wellington at 7.25 p.m. yeK' terday, the Government ;notor ship MaAii Pomare is due at Auckland at daybreak on Sunday. After loading at the King's wharf, she is to sail for Norfolk Island at 3 p.m. on Monday. (Spedding , , Ltd., agents.) PASSENGERS FBOM ENGLAND. Russell and Somers, Ltd., advise that the following passengers for New Zealand travelled by the P. and O. liner Mongolia, which was due at Sydney yesterday from London :—Auckland : Miss Valle, Mr. Dexter. Wellington: Misses Fitzpatrick (2). CANADIAN EXPLORER DISCHARGING. The Canadian National steamer Canadian Explorer, which "arrived at Auckland from Halifax yesterday morning, is unloading the local portion of her cargo at the Prince's wharf, and is to sail at noon tomorrow for Wellington, Lytfelton, Timaru and Punedin to complete discharge. AORANGI LEFT SYDNEY. Cabled advice from Sydney confirms the departure from there at C.15 p.m. yesterday of the Union Company's R.M.m'.s. Aorangi for Auckland, Suva, Honolulu and Vancouver. She is due here on Monday morning, berthing at the Prince's wharf, and is announced to sail again at 11 a,ni. on Tuesday. OTAKI LAID UP. The New Zealand Shipping Company's steamer Otaki is, expected to complete disr charge of New York cargo at Dun edin today, and will be laid up at that port until about March 18. She wilj then proceed to Nelson and Wellington to 'oad fruit for London, Avonmouth, Liverpool and Glasgow, via Montevideo and Rio de Janeiro, > MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. J. Howarth, who retired from the Union Company's service about four years ago, is reported to have died in Sydney last month. The late Mr. Howarth was for many years in the Union Company's service, and at the date of his retirement was chief engineer of the Makura. He has lived in Sydney since he retired from the Union Company's service. Captain R. Pearson has relieved Captalp W. Wahlstrom of the command of the Orepuki. Mr, R. Phillips, chief engineer of the John, is ashore on sick leave, and his place has been taken by Mr. C- Scott. Mr. T. C. Sawyers has relieved Mr. C.
