ROWING.
SMITH SHIELD,
INTER-CLUB FOURS RACE,
The annual Inter-club non-class fours race for the Smith Shield takes place to-morrow afternoon. The course will be from Orakei to a point near the eastern tide deflector. A splendid view of the race can be had from the new waterfront roadway.- The contest will be controlled by the Waitemata Boating Club. Club officials are advised to make arrangements to keep in communication with the Waitemata officers in the event of rough water conditions existing over the selected course. Nine crews are expected to face the starter.
MASON PAIRS,
The annual inter-club race for the Mason Pairs will also be rowed on Saturday afternoon over the Orakei course.
INTERPROVINCIAL EIGHT.
The selectors decided on the following crew to represent Auckland in the Interprovincial eight-oared contest for the Hally-burton-Johnstone Cup to be rowed at the Whuu Kiver course, Auckland, March 22 : — G. W. St. Clair (st), B. Sandos (7), W. Bayly (6), E. A. Waters (5), I. W. St. Clair (4), \V. Brockett (3), N. Pope (2), C. D. MoleswsKth (bow). Reserves: J. C. Baker and J. Partridge. Mr. S. H. Buchanan, of Hamilton, will be coach. The Auckland Rowing Association Is forwarding one of its eight-oarod boats to Hamilton by train-on Friday night, so that the crew will have every opportunity of training. ; • •
