CONFERENCE IN SOUTHLAND. MOTOR DRIVERS'-LICENSES. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) LNVERCARGILL, Tuesday. The annual meeting of the New Zealand Institute of Town Clerks was held at luvercargill to-day, Mr. Philip Skoglund, of Stratford, presiding. Referring to the Urban Farm Lands Ratin"- Bifl the chairman said he had circularised all town clerks regarding the matter and out of 85 replies received 84 had objected to the measure. He expressed the opinion that the Government would not go on with the bill in face of such strong objection. The following officers were elected: President, Mr. Skoglund; vice-presidents, South Island, Messrs. G. Edmonds (Nelson)/ F. Hobbs (Lyttelton) and.F. H. Denton (Greymouth); North Island, Messrs. J. R- Hardie (Palmerston North)', H. Wilson (Newmarket) and G. Murch ' (Wanganui); hon. auditor, Mr. A. J. Gearing executive committee, Messrs w F.°Stuman (Petone), B. S. Knox ' (Lower Hutt), J. F. Menzies (Sumner), J. T. Bdvis (Shannon) and A. Wilson (Otaki). The following resolution was adopted: "That in order to expedite the inspection of licenses by inspectors ..-presentation ■ be made through the Municipal Association to the Minister of Transport that local bodies be asked to adopt a uniform colour svstem for motor drivers '" licenses, such colour to conform with the of the number-plates for that " ; jear." . -
