PEACHES SELL BETTER.
PEAS AND BEANS SCARCER,
EGGS STILL THE SAME,
Generally speaking, supplies of fruit are slightly scarcer, "with the demand a little better. Peaches are higher in price. Though the banana position is momentarily improved by the cargo from the Maui Pomare from Samoa, stocks will soon be short again, as the cargo was not large. Prices are expected to increase in proportion. Prices at present are: —Peaches: Choice coloured, 4/ to 7/; medium and email, 2/ to 3/; cooking, 2/ to 4/. Plums: Purple King, 6/ to 8/; Doris, 4/ to 8/. Tomatoes: Outdoor, No. 1, 5/6 to 7/; smooth, 0/ to 9/; medium and small, 3/ to 4/. Apples: Gravenstein, choice coloured, 4/ to 6/; medium and small, 2/ to 3/; Albany Beauty, 3/ to 6/; cookers, 3/ to 4/; Willie Sharps, 3/ to 5/'; Windfalls, 2/. Pears: Bon Chretien, 7/ to 9/; Fertility, 3/ to 4/; Marie Louise, 3/6 to 5/; Louise Bon, 6/ to 9/. Grapes: Hothouse, Hamburgs, No. 1, 1/ to 1/3 lb; Groe Colman, 1/6; Golden Queen, 1/ to 1/3; Alicante, 1/ to 1/3; Te Kauwhata, 9/ to 11/ a 161b case. Cape gooseberries: 5d to 6d lb. Lemons: Local, 8/ to 14/. Passions: 5/ to 9/. Bananas, bushel cases: 15/ to 24/. Oranges: Californian, 38/ to 42/6. Peas and Beans. < Peas and beans are falling off gradually in supply, though the quality has improved. Prices have risen accordingly. All main lines of vegetables are plentiful, with pumpkins, marrows and cabbage hard to sen. Values for lettuce fluctuates, but there are fair quantities available. Ruling values are:—Potatoes, 2/ to 4/ bag; onions, 1/6 to 2/6 bag; kumaras, l%d to 19id lb; cabbage, 1/ to 2/6 sack; cauliflower, 4/ to 8/ sack; swedes, 1/6 to 2/ bag; pumpkins. 3/ to 6/ cwt; green peas, 3/ to 9/ bag; beans, 3/ to 8/6 bag; lettuce, 2/ to 5/ case; cucumbers, 1/ to 5/ dozen; vegetable marrows, 1/ dozen; rock melons, 2d to 1/6 each; cabbage, on benches, 6d to 1/6 dozen; celery, 1/6 to 4/6 bundle; rhubarb, 1/ dozen; spinach, 1/ dozen; pumpkins, 3d to 1/ eaeh; radish, 6d to 1/ doz«n; spring onions, 4d to 1/ bundle; carrots, parsnips, beet and turnips, 6d to lOd dozen. Eggs and Butter. Eggs are steady at late quotations, ihere are moderate supplies available, with a fair demand. Current prices for hrst quality hen eggs are; Special grade, H 1 k°zen; A grade, 2/; B grade, 1/9. -Duck eggs: Special grade, 1/11 dozen; A grade, 1/10; B grade, 1/18. Farmers' butter is selling well, with supplies about the same as usual. It is fetching from 1/ to 1/3 a lb
