Sir Francis Bell is at the Grand Hotel, and will sail by the Remuera on April 1. Mr. E. Hansen, Wanganui; Mr. and Mrs. N. Haniss, Mr. W. C. Spooner, Mr. A. R. Lawson, Wellington, are at the Commercial Hotel. Professor J. Macmillan Brown, chancellor of the University of New Zealand, left Wellington on a visit to England by the Rangitane on Saturday. He was accompanied by his daughter. Grand Hotel guests include:—Mr. Griffin, Nelson; Mr. R. Robertson, Vancouver; Mr. and Mrs. Hudson, Dunedin; Mr. I. Aumont, Paris; Mr. E. Mandel, Wellington; Mr. G. Burge, London. Dr. G. H. Scholefiekl, Parliamentary librarian, left Wellington for Auckland by the Limited express yesterday evening. He is at the Royal Hotel and will attend the Librarians' Conference to open to-morrow. Among those at the Central Hotel are:—Mr. and Mrs. J. G. Smith, Hamilton; Mr. L. Cooper, Gisborne; Sir. C. Topping, Wellington; Mr. C. Johnstone, Wliatawhata; Mr.. G. Calvert, Cambridge. Mr. A. G. Strachan, of the Auckland city treasurer's department, was promoted to the position of town clerk and .treasurer of Morrinsvill'e at a special meeting of the borough council last evening. Mr. G. H. Dolby. Mr. A. R. Lowe, New Plymouth; Mr. P. B. Weldon, Wanganui; Mr. L. Chaplin, Christchurch; Mr. J. C. Anderson, Wellington; Mr. R. H. Thorsby, Vancouver; are at the Royal Hotel.
