SHAW MAKES COURSE RECORD

The golf professionals' annual championships and handicap tournament was continued to-day at the Russley links, when the , championship rounds were begun in fine weather. Results on Saturday were: — Bogey Handicap, 18 holes—A. J. Shaw 5 up, H. R. Blair 2 up. Stroke Handicap.—H. R. Blair 70, C. C. Clements 70.

The performance of the day was given by the New Zealand open and professional champion, A. J. Shaw, of Napier, who established a record for the course by returning a card of 70 for the bogey handicap. His card read:—Out: 3, 4, 4, 4, 5, 5, 3, 3, 4—35; in: 3, 3, 4, 4, 4, 3, 4, 6, 4—35.
