LOADED BUS COLLIDES.

RETURNING FROM ROTORUA,

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)

ROTORUA, Sunday.

A collision between a heavily laden bus and a motor car occurred at 10.45 last night while the Whakarewarewa bus was returning from the pictures at Rotorua. Every seat was occupied.

A Maori, anticipating the collision, wrapped a baby in a rug and bent over to protect it. When other passengers were thrown on him, he fainted, and the baby was discovered uninjured. A girl sitting near the door was hurled out on to the grass by the roadside. She was unconscious, but recovered later. The only injuries to the bus passengers were cuts resulting from splintered glass, and bruises from the overturning of the seats.

The motor car was owned and driven by Mr. William George Currin, of Matata, who was taken to hospital very much cut about and bruised. The car was wrecked. The impact locked the two chasses and the vehicles had to be pulled apart.
