GARDEN PARTY.

Mrs. J. F. Ewen, of "'Glenesk," Re'muera Road, gave an At Home yesterday afternoon. In a garden of rare and wonderful blooms, water lily ponds filled with goldfish, and a quaint old fisherman plying his rod, the many visitors were invited to play tennis, croquet, or wander over the wide crazystoned pathways to the wonderful dahlia garden. Afternoon tea was served in the dining room and on the terrace, which was furnished in orangetoned cloths and flat bowls of flowers shading from lemon to deepest gold. The dining room, with its parchment Richelieu-worked table, inset with large filet medallions, had crystal bowls of blue larkspur, the house being a bower of fuchsia-toned flowers. Mr. R. Morgan's orchestra, under the baton of Mr. Edgerton, rendered several well-known items. The hostess received her guests in a frock of navy and crimson floral georgette, with Bangkok picture hat trimmed with beige osprey. Among those present were: The Countess of Orford, who wore a ficelle organdie, the skirt having a wide scalloped hem of narrow Valenciennes lace frills, summer ermine wrap, and Bangkok hat; Lady Sinclair Lockhart, back and gold georgette over yellow, black hat with
