CITY'S DIN AND ROAR.
Bad Effect of Loud Noise on Health. RESPONSIBLE TOE PATIGUE. (Received 11 a.m.) CHICAGO, February 10. The Health Department, surveying the city's din and roar, is using two human observers and amazingly delicate instruments in a laboratory experiment with animals. Dr. Hollinger, ear specialist, found the detrimental influence of loud noises on general health so great that the animals simply perished. The noises are responsible in a great degree for the fatigue of city workers, and in many cases high blood-pressure and nervous exhaustion.
