TORRENTIAL RAINS.
Damage to Property and Danger to Life. QUEENSLAND DOWNPOURS. (Received 11 a.m.) BRISBANE, this day. Further heavy rains have caused dislocation of the railway services and flooding of many rivers in coastal areas, resulting in much damage to property and danger to life. People have evacuated their homes in the lower sections of some towns. Til© wharves at Innisfail, on the Johnstone River, are submerged and the railway traffic bridge over the Herbert River at Cardwell had thirteen feet of water above the metals. Torrential downpours between Townsville and Jairns during 24 hours resulted in the registration at Barbinda of 595 points, Mosman 624, Port Douglas Gil. Up to ,'our inches fell in some parts of the peninsula district.
