WEEK-END PICNICS.

IDEAL WEATHER CONDITIONS. SUCCESSFUL OUTINGS. There were a number of annual picnics held during the week-end, the, weather being ideal. The bakers held their gathering at Henderson, the police and tlio Gas Company employees at Pnie Island, and many other holiday resorts were selected by various parties for their annual outing. The police had the greatest attendance, some 2000 persons being present. AUCKLAND GAS CO. For the twenty-fifth annual picnic: of the Auckland Gas Company about 1000 employees and friends journeyed to rme Island on Saturday. Special provision vuis made for the children, who were K lven .. splendid time. There was plenty for tne little ones to eat in the way_ of cases and sweets, while each child received at 5 as a memento of the occasion. MrSmith's band played a fine programme or lively music. The success was in a m"*® measure due to the president and secretarj of the committee, Mr. G. Gwilliam ana Mr. Brighton. Results of sports : —• Employees' wives' competition: Mrs. tsye 1. Ladies' nail-driving event: Mrs. Wheeler 1. Mrs. Burke 2. Other prize-winners were. Miss E. Little and Messrs. H. Young, V. Moore, A. Bell and Ruby. CLARK AND MATHESON. Motuihi Island was selected by the employees of Messrs. Clark and Mntlieson far the annual picnic on Saturday. Tne children were specially catered for, and all had a good time.
