During the last six years ex-President Calles has ' been using the iron hand, with the result that there has been constant agitation. "Of course it is sad to think of Presi- ' dent Rubio injured, because he is noth- • ing but the tool of Calles., I hope for 1 peace in Mexico, but let us hope for ; justice first." Ex-President Portes Gil stated: "As 1 I take charge of the Ministry of the 1 Interior I report a savage brutal attack ■ which reveals that there exists a morbid ' element who leave nothing undone, -no 1 matter how reproachable, - to carry the J country toward ruin and chaos. I say ' that the Government still has the firm ' intentions of seeing that the principles of the Mexican social movement are complied with. We will face any situation arising, and know how to punish, with all our energy, all criminal attempts of this nature. Therefore the nation may rest tranquil."
