A personality in tlis chess -.world, Mr. M. E. Goldstein, was a visitor at the Auckland Chess Club during the past week. Mr. Goldstein is one of the leading British authorities on the game. He has recently taken up his residence in Sydney and was in Auckland on a business trip.' Mr. Goldstein is looking foiward to playing in the Australian championship next year. The full score of the telegraphic match between the Auckland and Canterbury Chess Clubs has come to hand after a long but unavoidable delay. As expected, the local club has- suffered another defeat.
