ISLAND FRUIT.
MAUI POMARE'S NEXT TBIP.
AUCKLAND FIRST POET.
(By Telegrapli.—Own Cerresiwttdeitt.)
WELLINGTON, this day.
On account of the very warm weather experienced during the last trip of the Government ship Mani Pamare, her fruit cargo when landed was in very mixed condition, and severe losses were suffered with the Samoan portion of the cargo. At a Cabinet meeting yesterday it was decided that Auckland should be the first port of call in New Zealand on the vessel's present voyage. This decision applies to the present voyage only.
It is anticipated that about one-third of the total cargo will be landed at Auckland, and the balance distributed between South Island ports, unless it is found that the fruit is in such condition that further carriage would cause :indue deterioration and loss.
Tie Chang* of the itinerary mil mean that the vessel will arrive in Lyttelton one day'later than would otherwise have been the case.
