WAIPU COVE ROAD.
SUBSIDY GRANTED.

(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, Friday.
In response to the representations made to him in reference to the Waipu Cove Road during his recent visit to the district, the Minister of Public Works, Hon. E. A. Ransom, has telegraphed to the Whangarei County Council as follows: ■ "I have approved immediate authorisation of £200 free grant, and'a subsidy of £400 on £2 for £1 basis. Work to the value of £800 may be put in hand when the council's proposals have received the district engineer's approval. Also, lam agreeable to the cost of metalling the remainder of the gap being subsidised on £2 for £1 basis. The Government subsidies may be regarded as being additional to the county's allocation."
