ROTORUA NOTES.
Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton and Mrs. Chatterton have left for Napier and Wellington, en route for an extended visit to England and the Continent. They will be absent a year. Mrs. Currie 'and "family have returned from a holiday spent at Ohopi Beach. Miss Whiting, who has been on the staff of the Rotorua School for some years, has been transferred to Howick. Mrs. Boucher and Miss Gwen Boucher, Ohinemutu, have been on a short visit to Okoroire. Mrs. Laxon, of Remuera, is the guest of Mrs. G. R. Tapper. The Rev. A. C. Randersou and Mrs. Randerson have returned from a holiday spent at Manly, Auckland. They also visited the "VVaitomo Caves and Tongariro National Park. Mrs. Laurenson and her little daughter Naomi, who have been visiting Matamata and Rotorua, left with Archdeacon and Sirs. Chatterton for Napier. Miss Hall, who has been staying at the Mission House, Whakarewarewa, has returned to Hukarere College, Napier.
A social evening was held at St. Luke's Parish Hall on Thursday, in honour of Archdeacon F. W. Chatterton and Mrs. Chatterton, who are leaving Rotorua shortly for an extended trip to England and the Continent. The hall and lounge were arranged with bowls of bffife hydrangeas and white daisies. There was a large and representative attendance of parishioners and friends. Mr. W. W. P.. Hall presided, and on behalf of the members of St. Luke's Church, wished Archdeacon and Mrs. Chatterton bon voyage, a safe return, with the best of health and happiness, and then presented Mrs. Chatterton with a leather hat box, and a fountain pen, gold pencil and travelling bag to Archdeacon Chatterton. Mrs. Chatterton was presented with a beautiful bouquet of mauve sweet peas and carnations by Edna Dalbeth, on behalf of the Ngongotaha parishioners. The Rev. A. C. Randerson, 011 behalf of St. John's Presbyterian Church, and the Rev. Speer, representing the Methodist Church, spoke in eulogistic terms of Archdeacon and Mrs. Chatterton's good work while in Rotorua.for the last eleven years, and extended to them best wishes for a happy and beneficial holiday. A welcome was also extended to the Rev. Mr. Bates, of Wellington, who will be in charge of the parish daring Archdeacon Chatterton's absence. Mrs. Bates was unable to be present, having been detained in Wellington. A short musical programme opened with a vocal trio by Misses Isles, D. Mactier, and J. Giesen; violin solo by Mr. Nelson; vocal solo, Jliss K. Hall; pianoforte solo, Miss M. McKenzie. The accompaniments were played by Misses M. Mactier and M. McKenzie.
