BUSINESS IN THE SOUTH.
(By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The "Christchurch Times" reports as follows: — Business has been limited during the week, and the turnover locally has accounted for the majority of transactions. Dunedin did not report a sale until yesterday, and Wellington had three blank days after Monday. The price level taken throughout is o'little lower, and in the banking section some of the declines have been fairly substantial. Recorded sales during the week were as follows:— 8354, compared with 14,138 last week. The transactions, "when classified, give the following results, the figures for last week being in parentheses: Banks 2504 (3582), insurance nil (100), loan and agency 850 (2379), coal 100 (nil), breweries 675 (3002), meat 300 (600), wool nil (20), mining 2600 (3000), miscellaneous 1325 (1455). There have been no sales of Government issues this week, but £300 of local body debentures changed hands, and £1000 of company debentures.
