AGAINST DOCTORS' EVIDENCE.

MOTORIST CONVICTED. UNDER THE INFLUENCE, SAYS S.M. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. Despite the evidence of two doctors who examined him after his arrest, Fred 'Aldinger, aged 31, chief engineer of an oil company, was to-day convicted of being drunk while in charge of a car. Mr. McNeil, S.M., made it clear that his decision was based upon his opinion that defendant was under the influence of drink at the time of his arrest. It was admitted in defence that defendant had had some drinks. He was found asleep at the wheel of a stationary car. In view of the fact that he was not driving the magistrate did not make an order concerning defendant's license, but he imposed a fine of £20. It was stated that in all probability defendant would appeal.
