DOMINION TOURNEY.
PLAY AT DUNEDIN. THE PAIRS CHAMPIONSHIP. TWO ROUNDS DECIDED. ' (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) DUNEDIN', Wednesday. The Dominion bowling tournament' ■was advanced another stage to-day when a start was mads with the pairs competition. A little rain fell during the night and about the time fixed for the commencement of play a thick drizzle set in which threatened to make play im-i possible during the day. Shortly before noon/ however, the weather cleared and it was decided to start the games at 2 p.m. Just as -.play was started light rain set in again, and although it was not heavy enough to stop play it made matters very unpleasant on most of the greens. The entries totalled 176 and i 4 greens were required to accommodate the players.. The greens were naturally heavy, but otherwise they were in splendid order. Two rounds were decided today and the remaining three to complete the section play will be played to-mor-row,. Owing to delay caused by the' rain the games have been cut down to the limit of two and a half hours instead of two and three-quarter hours,, as' originally intended.
