CULT OF SLIMNESS.
M.P.'S WANT A GYM. NO BOXING ALLOWED. M.P.'s who fear that they will get fat arc asking for a gymnasium in the House of Commons, whero also, it is suggested, the heckled member could vent his rage on the punchball. " Mr. Lansbury, the First Commissioner of Works, recently, told Mr. J. B. Oldfield (Soc.,, S.E.' Essex), that he was prepared to consider the matter, but that the difficulty Avas lack of space. The energetic members are taking this reply as an indication that something is at last to be done, and they have their eyes on a room in the Crypt which would serve the purpose. \ Mr. Oldfield .-told a "Daily Mail'? reporter: "I am optimistic about the result of my question. Late sittings, coupled with the fact that we sit in the House nearly all day without exercise, tend to make us fat! • I should like to see a gymnasium "such -as is provided in liners. There would probably be no boxing ring. • That takes up too much room, and we should not like members to settle their differences there. But there is a strong feeling in favour of fencing. We. should equip the room ourselves." - ■:•■■ . '■; '- ! Sir- Oswald Mosley is a leader : an the movement. ,- v s { '~■". ''-"'
