FIRE AT ROTO-O-RANGI.
WELL KNOWN CARRIER DIES.

CAMBRIDGE, this day.
A small cottage owned by Mr. Alexander Hewson, farmer, of Roto-o-rangi, and occupied by his son, was destrpyed by fire yesterday. No one was in the cottage at the time. It was insured for £80, aiid the furniture and other effects for £40, in the State Office.
The death occurred rather suddenly early this morning of Mr. Sydney John (Jack) Foster, a \well known Cambridge carrier. He had lived in the Cambridge district for 12 years. He leaves a widow and a family of five sons and two daughters, all of whom are in Cambridge. Two of his brothers and a sister live in Hamilton.
