EXPORT FIGURES COMPARED. UNCLE SAM MOVES UP. UNITED KINGDOM SECOND. « The following interesting facts and figures relative to the trade of the principal countries of the world are obtained from the condensed preliminary report on the trade of Canada, 1929, published by the Department of Trade and Commerce, Canada. In 1913 the United Kingdom occupied first-place in aggregate external trade, Germany occupied second position, and the United States third. In 1925, however, the United States had moved into first position, the United Kingdom into second, and Germany into third. New Zealand L'eing both a young and a small country is naturally well down in the list of the principal countries of the worM given below, occupying twentieth position in 1913 and nineteenth position in 1928. The figures are in millions of dollars, and the countries are arranged in order of importance of trade in 1928, the order in 1913 being indicated in the extreme left-hand column.
