The opening day of the South Wairarapa Trotting Club's annual meeting wae held to-day on the Clarevillc racecourse iu perfect weather. There was a large attendance and the totalisator handled £0054, against £6870 on the corresponding day last year. After the seventh race, the Clareville Handicap, an inquiry was held into the running of Lightf'oot, which ran second after being unplaced earlier in the day in the Bey Handicap.
