BUSH FIRES.
Large Areas In New South Wales Devastated. MOTORISTS' LUCKY ESCAPE. (Received 11 a.m.) SYDNEY, this day. A message from Coraki, in the Northern River district, states that bush fires are sweeping over a huge area of heath country between Richmond River and the sea. The countryside has been burnt bare for miles. Residences have been destroyed. Two mm, a woman and three children had a narrow escape from death when a lorry in which they were riding stopped. Files were raging nearby and the occupants were forced to seek shelter in a waterhole. *
Miles of fencing have been burnt. Roads are blocked by fallen trees and largo areas of grass country are devastated.
