CHICAGO MURDERS.

One Hundred And Thirteen Cases Unsolved This Year. JURYMEN FEAR TO SERVE. i. (Received 11 a.m.) VANCOUVER, December 23. One hundred and thirteen murders were unsolved in Chicago this year. A significant feature is that in not one outstanding case of gang slaying have the murderers been brought to justice. Even when a murderer is convicted at peat expense it is difficult to keep him in gaol as criminals sentenced to death are granted new trials and meanwhile witnesses disappear, either permanently or during the retrial, and the murderer is set free. Jurymen fear to serve as they and their families are threatened with death if they find against the defendant.
