DAIRY FARMERS' COLLIERY.
. — I Air P Hunter, mine manager, Glen Afton Collieries, Waikato, which-is owned by the New Zealand Co-opevative IJairy Company, reports the volume of business transacted by the company during the j&st four years: 1926, 145,464 tons; 192V 5 176,254 tons; 1928, 167,633 tons; 1929, 170,000 tons. These tonnages place Glen Afton in the lead for the greatest output of North Island coal mines, and second in New Zealand only to the Westport Coal Company. The tree planting areas of the company are now in excellent, order, and the growth of the pine species is most apparent. It will ensure a plentiful supply of Pit props in the near future. <" •
