Princess Betty was firit tc work, this filly running half a mile outside the course proper (the flags being 40 to 50ft out from the rails), in 55 2-ss, after a slow jump out. It was a good gallop as she kept on the extreme outside throughout.
Red Bank and Vinella were companions over a round on the sand. Both put plenty of heart into their work.
Roundelay and Battle Torque were together at the conclusion of six furlongs in 1.27 2-5, the first three taking 425. Roundelay went nicely throughout. Otairi left six furlongs behind in 1.20, the first three taking 41s. Hawkslavv set the pace for Disrank throughout half a mile covered in 555. Hawkslaw is showing distinct promise. Disrank goes to Waipukurau.
Rory Mor was too good for Callamart over seven furlongs in 1.42 A.
Good Acre got a break on Hunting Boy, but the latter was up with his companion at the close of fiva furlongs in 1.13.
Full Feather was clear of Ball Dress at the end of half a mile in 57 l-ss.
Piuthair put plenty of vim into her work over a round, the last six furlongs taking 1.25.
Democratic beat Four Aces over seven furlongs in 1.41 2-5.
Semper Paratus and Hurly Burly ,vere together at the end of five furlongs, the last half mile taking 575.
Pari hung on to Masher over half a mile in 575, with First Ruler three lengths back. Iveddar had a slight advantage of Glenrossie over five furlongs in 1.11 1-5.
Askari was going quite as well as Imperial Spark at the close of seven furlongs in 1.42 3-5, the first half mile being covered in 595. Diana's Lad ran six furlongs in 1.27 2-5, the first three taking 42 2-ss. King Acre beat Dobbin over four furlongs in 55 2-si=.
Patearoa and Plane were on terms, with Fiery Comet beaten off, at the end of six furlongs in 1.26. Barcelona, ran home from the two-fur-longs post in 28 l-ss. Air Force and Warzone jumped off at the six furlongs post, to pick up R&yal Mission at five furlongs peg. The last-named was a shade in front of Air Force, with Warzone a length and a half back. The full distance was rui: in 1.27.
Blue Paper recorded the fastest gallop of the morning, running half a mile in 53 4-os, although she kept close to the flags. In all probability Tigrano win not be a starter at the meeting as he is under offer to an Australian buyer, as is the Hunting Song—St. Helen three-year-old. The transaction is expected to be completed to-day. Aurora Borealis was lame prior to working, but after pace working jumped a couple of fences and pulled up sound, although there is still a swelling m the off foreleg. There was little between Tea Taster and Hewhanga at the end of four furlongs in 51 2-ss. Pahu and the Acre gelding from J. Coyle's team ran five furlongs in 1.11 2-5, the former holding the advantage. Cimabue has been scratched for_ the Palmerston North Stakes and Aspiring for the Fitzherbert Handicap.
