Sir. A. M. Samuel, M.P. for Thames, who has been ordered to take a rest after his recent illness, is spending the next six weeks in the Rotorua district.

Mr. S. A. Cleal, Deputy-Registrar and Clerk of Awards at the Supreme Court, was admitted as a solicitor before Mr. Justice Smith this morning, on the motion of Mr. Northcroft.

The Rev. F. G. Harvie, vicar of St. Augustine's, Stanley Bay, has been appointed vicar of St. Barnabas', Mount Eden, in succession to the Rev. E. E. Bamford, who has been appointed to a position as tutor at St. John's College. Mr. Harvie will take up his new duties about the end of February.
Colonel M. Aldred, of Waiuku, officer commanding the First New Zealand Mounted Rifles Brigade, has been awarded the Colonial Auxiliary Forces Officers' Decoration and the Colonial Au&iliary Forces' Lon» Service Medal.
