MID-WEEK COMPETITION. In the first round of the Auckland City and Suburban Cricket Association's midweek competition at Victoria Park yesterday afternoon, Post and Telegraph beat Philomel, "Herald" beat Auckland Milk Company and Pacific Cable Board took points from the Xavy by default. Bowling: Foster took six wickets for Sβ runs, Thomson one for -17. Auckland Milk Company, 56 (Brookes 15, Foster 10, Thompson 10). Bowling: S. S. Wilson took five wickets for 19 runs, D. Webb four for 34. Post and Telegraph v. H.M.s. Philomel.— H.M.s. Philomel, first innings, 53 (Dr. Gunn 20, Andrews 11, Burnett 10). Bowling: Houton took two wickets for 13 ruris, Clemen three for 21, Davidson three for 10 Harley one for 10. Post Office, 201 (Brett 52 retired, McEwen 68 retired, Clemen 11, Herd ■35 not out).
