AUCKLAND'S HEALTH.

INFECTIONS DISEASES RETURN PNEUMONIA CASES DECREASE. ft There was a considerable decrease in the number of cases of pneumonia in the four health districts in the Auckland province during the month of November. The number of cases" reported was 28, as against 86 during October. The number of cases of diphtheria last month was 15, tuberculosis 46, pneumonia 28 and pneumonic influenza 9. ' Of the 94 cases of scarlet fever notified 54 were in the Central Auckland health district, while the Thames-Tau-ranga district had the next largest number with 17. Tuberculosis was most prevalent in the central district, where 22 cases were notified, the southern and northern districts having 13 and 11 cases respectively. There were no cases in the Thames-Tauranga district. The following details of infectious diseases were reported to the medical officers in charge of their respective districts:— A total of 119 cases of infectious disease was reported by Dr. T. J. Hughes, medical officer in charge of tho Central Auckland health district. Details are: Scarlet fever 54, diphtheria 11, enteric fever 4, tuberculosis 22, influenza (pneumonic) 3, pneumonia 10, erysipelas 3, puerperal fever 7, eclampsia 1, tetanus 1, dysentery 3.

In the North Auckland aud ThamesTauranga districts there were 59 cases reported by Dr. H. Chesson. Details are:—North Auckland health district: Scarlet fever 10, diphtheria 2, enteric fever 3, tuberculosis 11, influenza (pneumonic) 3, pneumonia 4, erysipelas 1, eclampsia 1. Thames-Tauranga health district: Scarlet fever 17, influenza (pneumonic) 1, pneumonia 6.

Dr. J. Boyd, in charge of the- South Auckland health district, reported 54 cases, as follow:—Scarlet fever 13, diphtheria 2, enteric fever 6, tuberculosis 13, cerebro-spinal meningitis 2, influenza (pneumonic) 2, pneumonia 8, puerperal fever (ordinary) 1, eclampsia 1, dysentery 5, trachoma 1.
