(United P.A.—Electric Telegraph—CopyrigLtl BRISBANE, December 2. The match between the English cricketers and Queensland resulted to-day in the defeat of the visitors by five wickets. England made 171 and 259, and Queensland 248 and 183 for five wickets. The partnership between Worthington and Legge, the not out men, troubled tho local bowlers. They added 61 runs. Then Allom's stand with Worthington kept Queensland fielding for half an hour. O'Connor and Levy went to the wickets with 183 to make to win in 180 minutes. Tho start was disastrous O'Connor going with the score at five, Levy at 13. Gougli batted vigorously and had a solid partnership with Eowe. Both men were lucky, as catches were dropped several times. Benson was struck on the face by a ball from Nichols and retired, and Dulcepsinhji kept wickets. With 100 up Gough and Eowe hit out. There was an exciting finish. With 30 minutes to play 30 runs were wanted. The crowd cheered every run. There was a great demonstration at Gough's century, the highest score for Queensland against an England team. The match developed into a race against time, and finished three minutes before time. The winning run came from a no-ball. Details of the score are as follows: — ENGLAND.
