NEW STAGE SHOWS.

MUSICAL COMEDIES AND "THRILLERS." EDGLEY AND DAWE RETURN. After a trip of twenty-one weeks through England, the Continent and America, Mr.. Clem Dawe, the popular comedian, and his brother, Mr. Eric Edgley, are returning from their travels by the Niagara, on which they are through passengers for Sydney. 'Since they have been away they have seen over three hundred shows, mostly musical, in England, the United States and Paris, and they have brought back with them the rights of several English and American musical comedy successes, which they will produce under the Williamson management. "Probably the best show we have bought is 'Love Lies,'" said Mr. Edgley. "'Love Lies' lias been playing at the London Gaiety for ten months, with Stanley Lupino in the principal comedy role, which my brother will play in Australia and New Zealand. Two other artists well known in this part of the world, who have leading roles in 'Love Lies,' are Cyril Ritchards and Madge Elliott, who were here with 'The Cabaret, Girl,' 'Kissing Time' and 'A Night Out,.' They are among the most popular musical comedy stars in London at present. Other productions to which we have secured the rights are 'Spring Is Here,' '0, Kay' and 'Pitter-Patter.' 'Pitter-Pat-ter' was rewritten for us by Paul Gerrard Smith, who wrote the scenario and dialogue for Harold Lloj'd's first talkie, 'Welcome Danger.' "Although we were seeking musical shows principally, we secured the rights to a new mystery-thriller, entitled 'Remote Control,'" continued Mr. Edgley. "We hope to produce this play in Australia next year. There is also a possibility that A 1 Jolson, the great American entertainer, whom you have seen in 'The -Jazz Singer' and 'The Sinking Fool.' will make a tour of the world next year. He is anxious to come to New Zealand and Australia, and has left us to make, final arrangements, which we hope to complete in about a month's time."
