"WHY SHOULD I?"

NOTHING TO SAY. DEPARTURE OF BIGGS. PASSENGER BY ULIMAROA DETECTIVES AT WHAEF.

"I have nothing to say; why should I have?" was the answer given bj Mr. W. H. A. Biggs when interviewed to-day before he embarked on the Ulimaroa for his return voyage to Sydney. Look-

mg as unconcerned as any passenger on board, Biggs stood on the after. deck, and said good-bye to one or two friends. The ship sailed promplty to time, and Biggs v.-as not on the deck when the mooring ropes were thrown off and the steamer moved from Queen's wharf to mid-stream, and turned her bowa for Sydney.

Biggs arrived in Auckland last Tuesday by the Ulimaroa, when he said he was amazed at the news of the death of his wife at Melbourne. He was interviewed by the police on arrival, and later a message came that the Melbourne police had decided to demand his attendance at the inquest. Tin. body of Mrs. JBiggs was washed ashore at St. Kilda. Biggs stated in Auckland that he thought that his wife would follow him to New Zealand by another boat, and was. not worried by the fact that he had not seen her since they were together in Melbourne on Monday, November 18. He left for Sydney on the following day. Two Auckland detectives waited at the gangway to see that Mr. Biggs did not miss his passage.
