VALEDICTORY.
SERGEANT ROWELL. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) THAMES, this day. In the Magistrate's Court this morning Mr. E. J. Clcndon, senior counsel, referred to the approaching departure of Sergeant Rowel!, who has been "transferred to Otahuhu. ;He said Sergeant Rowell had shown himself a pleasant and zealous officer, endowed with a fund of'ccohinorisense,. and, although the Bar rejbicedtwith him in his promotion, they regretted his transfer, and desired to wish'him.and his family success. ; Mr..' Clendon presented Sergeant Rowell with a case of pipes. He also referred to the departure of Constable Devereaux, who had for long been a resident of the district and had been a -popular, and competent officer. - Mr. F. W. Platts, S.M., associated himself with the remarks of and wished both officers a prosperous future.
