INTERHOUSE GIRLS.

ANNUAL SPORTS CARNIVAL FOB SATURDAY. AIMS *THE ASSOCIATION.

Much praise is due to the members of the Interhouse Girls' Association for their efforts to assure the success of their annual sports meeting, to be held at Carlaw Park' on Saturday next. iEnthusiasm has been the key note of their preparations and only a fine day is necessary to' make the meeting the most memorabfe of its kind ever held in Auckland. In past years brilliant colour has been a feature, -of the displays, and this rear's carnival promises to be brighter than ever. Fourteen houses will be represented at the meeting, and upwards of 500 girls will.le taking part. Several ambitious schemes have been undertaken in an effort to make the coming gala the best ever. For instance, instead of only 144 girls taking part in the gymnastic tableau, there will be over 500. This massed demonstration has meant very much more practice, and for the last two months the girls have been hard at it. No time has been given off working hours for the preparation, so that it has heen necessary to hold all practices in the girls' own time. It is confidently anticipated that the results will fuHy compensate the girls for their efforts. A high standard should be shown in tine marching and team work, as competition among the houses is keener than ever. In adidtion to sprints and hurdle races, there will be novelty events, which should prove highly populari. The success, of these meetings in the past made possible the formation of the Girls' Iterhouse Club, which was opened last August, aaid it is hoped to make this year's carnival a bumper one in order that the work of the association may be carried on. The chief aims of the association are the physical development of the garls and the promotion of good fellowship among its members. The trophy list this years has been supplemented by two more cups, one donated by the directors of Messrs. Milne and Choyce, and the other by the Fanners' Trading Company.
