AUSSIE MOTOR CYCLISTS. WESTERN" SPRINGS STADIUM STARS, Arthur Mann and Syd. Perkins, two of the Australian broadside riders, ar rived by train this morning from Wellington to take part in the speedway meeting to be held on Saturday night at Western Springs Speedway. During their stay in Auckland they will be guests at th' Royal Hotel.
", Both riders were competitors at Wellington on Saturday, but were rather unfortunate insomuch that machine troubles interfered with their winning chances. However, they gave the large crowd a taste of what broadsiding meant, and thrilled the crowd. In his first race a chain sprocket of Mann's machine broke. In the big nine international gold sash scratch event his wheel came off.
Syd. Perkins, after competing in an earlier event, where, through machine trouble, lie was compelled to retire, put up a fine performance in running second to Kilmister. ' Wally Kilmister, who wi]l be amongst the competitors on Saturday, won two races in fine style. In his first race lie beat Billy Stipewich, of Australia, ana Harry Mangliam, both of whom have been riding exceedingly well in Australia and New Zealand. In winning the bi°- race, Kilmister put up a record tot the Wellington track, and was only 1 Us outside the Australian r ec ord Other riders to come from Wellington w h Kilmister will be Harvie Grove and McGbie. Some twenty local riders will assist at the meeting, and .as everything is in good order for opening ni-ht there is every indication that the initial effort will be a successful one.
