RECEPTION.

FUNCTION ON RANGTTIK.I. A very large number of guests attended the reception given by the New Zealand Shipping Company on board the R.M.m.v. Rangitiki yesterday afternoon. The various dining rooms and lounges looked most attractive with the bcwls of delicately-shaded stocks that were arranged on'the tables and the luxuriant green' ferns and pot-plants that were placed hero and there.

Upon their arrival the guests were received by Captain Smith and Mr. and Mrs. A. C. Siiiel on one deck, and Mr. and" Mrs. John Anderson, of Christciiurch; on the other.
