ELLERSLIE TRAINING NOTES.
PREPARING FOR TAKAPUNA.
The course proper, with the poles about 35ft out from the rails, and No. 2 grass track were open for fast work at Ellerslie this morning. The weather, though dull, was fine, and the going was good. The Course Proper. Gemlight and Tetrachate jumped off at the six furlongs post, running the first three in 37 3-ss, and the full distance in 1.20. They were together at the finish. The Alison Cup candidates, Corinax (L. Manson) and Hyde Park (H. Gray), were companions over a round, which they completed in 2.8 3-5, the last seven furlongs taking 1.35 3-5. Corinax finished in front, and was going the better of the pair throughout.
Diamond Queen and Bizarro jumped off at the mile post and ran home in 1.49 3-5. The former was always in front. Gay Cockade ran seven furlongs in 1.33 3-5, doing it well. The two-year-olds Tremetie, Thespis and Eafflight finished as named, with little between them, at the end of three furlongs in 395.
No. 2 Grass. Eager Rose easily accounted for Dark Prince over six furlongs, which she covered in I.l*B. There was little between Respirator, Red Lion and Importer while traversing a round in 1.48. ° Praetor and Alloy were given a six furlongs task, but were not timed. Golden Wedding finished several lengths in front of Thursby at the conclusion of a six furlongs gallon which took 1.17 3-5. Neil, Good Idea and Lusoma were in that order after running five furlongs in 1.8 2-5. ° _ Cynthia N was timed to run the last six furlongs of her work in 1.19. Vallar covered the first three of sk hi M7V" 3? 2 " 5S ' and the full distanec Tea Time ran home from the halfmile post in 51 l-ss. Greenfield ran six furlongs in 1.23 2-5. Harbour View hit out freely over a round, which he covered in 1.50 4-5 Roman Pearl was a shade in front of Measurer at the end of six furlongs in 1.17 4.-O. Master Doon and Mon Star were on terras at the end of half a mile in 52 l-5s Sir Archie did strong work on the tan W?? his laet seven furlongs in' The Two-year-old Track. Kairangipai and Puriri Park covered three furlongs in 38 3-ss. The former began best, but Puriri Park was up with him at the finish. Hampton Park was sent over three furlongs, which he covered in 37 l-ss.
