PIGEON FLYING.

AVALON CLUB. The Avalon club flew a race from Te Awamutu in fine weather, an airline distance of 86 miles. The birds were liberated by the stationmaster at 11 a.m., -and the first bird homed to its loft at 1.10. Results: — ■ Mr. H. Hanlon'g blk h Duchess, 1174.4 yds 1 Messrs. Buckton's r c c Welcome Home, 1164.1yd5; Mr. J. Wilson's r c h Red Moon, 1156.8yd5. ONEHUNGA CLUB. The Onehunga Club flew their yearling championship from Blenheim for the H. E. Crowhurst Challenge Cu£>. Liberated in very thick, misty rain the winning pigeon flew the distance of 326 miles in 12 hours 16 minutes. By winning this race again Messrs. F. Wilson and Son win the cup outright. Results: — Messrs. F. Wilson and Son's r c c Stroller, 771.4 yds 1 Mr. F. Collins' b c h Logan's Pride, 771.06 yds 2 Mr. N. Paddy's b p c Flight Commander, 768 yds 3 Mr. F. Glass' blk c c Dixieland, 754 yds 4 Also flew'; Mr. A. Langton's, 739 yds; Mr. J. Wallace's, 738 yds.; Mr. W. Larking's, 734 yds; Messrs. Langton Bros'., 716 yds; Mr. W. Sargent's, 666 yds. •Next Saturday the club fly their single ibird championship from Christchurch. NORTH SHORE CLUB. The North Shore Club contested two races, one from Palmerston North, a distance of 260 miles, and one from Te Awamutu (86 miles). The former was won by Mr. H. E. Crowhurst, and the latter by Mr. R. Oliver. Rfesults;— Palmerston race:— Mr. H. E. Crowiurst's, 950 yds .per minute 1 Mr. D. Fredatovich's, 946 yds 2 Messrs. Buchanan Bros'., 940 yds 3 Te Awamutu race:— Mr. R.
