LIMITED EXPRESS DELAYED.

HOT BOX ON DE LUXE CAR.

BUSINESS MEN INCONVENIENCED.

Owing to a hot box developing on a de luxe sleeper, the Limited express was an hour and a half late in arriying'at Auckland from Wellington this morningl The trouble occurred when the train was between Marton and Taihape, and over an hour's running time was lost on account of stoppages between Taihape and Te Kuiti. At Ohakune a railwayman joined the express and attended to the car at various stopping points.

It was most unfortunate that the trouble occurred on Saturday, as several business men from country districts usually come into the city to transact business during the morning and spend the week-end here. Some expressed themselves at being most annoyed at th© delay, whilst others took it in a philosophic manner. The question was raised whether the de luxe sleeper could not have been put off at a wayside station and the express allowed to proceed at its usual speed. When matter was referred to railway ofhcils it was pointed out that it would be impracticable to have people rise from their bunks in the middla of the night, dress, and be transferred to another part of the train.

Don't miss a free drink at the "Sparklet" demonstration in the J.C.L. fifth floor next week.—John Court, Ltd., Queen Street.—(Ad.)
