HYDRO-ELECTRIC POWER.
CANADA'S HUGE SCHEMES. (From Our Own Correspondent.) VANCOUVER, October 20. In Eastern and Western Canada two vast new power programmes are under way 'which will involve the expenditure of more than 100,000,000 dollars. "In,: Eastern Canada the Beauharnais •pow,er Corporation, project on the St. River wiir cost from 50,000,000 to 60,000,000 dollars. : .In, British Columbia the B.C. Power {Corporation,- announces a six-year programme which will cost 50,000,000 dollars, and. will develop three main hydro projects. These are the Slave River, "ridge River and Campbell River plants. Work on. the first two is already advanced, and pulp and paper industry is expected to follow the Campbell River work. In the Slave and Bridge River plantsthe company is tunnelling through mountains to tap mountain lakes.
