UNITED PARTY DANCE.
On Thursday the Surrey Junior Club of the United New Zealand Political Organisation held a social and dance in the Grey Lynn Bowling Club pavilion to welcome home Mr. J. S. Fletcher, M.P., and his wife. Miss Mona Lewis, chairwoman of the Junior Club, in extending good wishes' to Mr. and Mrs. Fletcher, said that although the club was only in its infancy they hoped it would grow to a big organisation, so that when they reached their majority they would be a substantial support to their member and the United party. Mr. Fletcher, after expressing his appreciation to the Surrey women's branch for their efforts in inaugurating the Junior Club, explained the political situation to the young people. When speaking of his stand on the unemployment question, he was interrupted by enthusiastic cheering and applause. In conclusion, he extended an invitation to the club to meet at his residence when he returned from his vacation. Mrs. S. H. Cavoye, secretary of the women's branch, presented Mrs. Fletcher with a bouquet of roses. In response to repeated cries of "speech" Mrs. Fletcher said that a Parliamentarian's wife did not have any chance of displaying her talent as a speech-maker, one in a family being quite sufficient, but she very much appreciated the Junior welcome. The evening ■ was spent in games and dancing, and items were contributed by the Misses Stevens. The chaperones were Mesdames O'Malley, Snell, Hawkey and Lewis. At the conclusion of the evening Mr. H.
