LAWBEATH DISPUTE.
DETAILS OF THE SETTLEMENT. LYTTELTON MEN PAID OFF. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) DUNEDIN, Wednesday. The conference at Wellington at which the Lawbeath settlement was arrived at was attended by Captain McFadyen, master. of the vessel, Mr. P. Butler, representing the owners of the steamer, a Glasgow firm, Mr. J. Eoberts, secretary of the Waterside Workers' Federation, Mr. F. P. Walsh, of the New. Zealand Federated Seamen's Union, Dr. Reakes, of the Agricultural Department, and Mr. W. Newton, of the Labour Department. \ ; The men who shipped at Lyttelton in place of those in gaol were paid off this afternoon. ' . The statement (published in the "Star" yesterday) that the case of the Lawbeath shall be regarded as an isolated one, refers only to the clause that the fares of the men in prison at Paparua are td be paid to Port Chalmers. ' . . r All money due to the, crew is to be paid over to Messrs. Walsh and Newton.
