It was announced at a public meeting in Woodville last night that the Minister of Mines had offered ,a subsidy of £500 towards -the cost of securing a geophysical survey by German scientists of the Maharahara copper field, in the prospecting of which the sum of £40,000 has already been expended by various companies. '

The total cost of geophysical survey is expected to be about fooOO. aud the public is being asked to subscribe £3000 to a prospecting company. If the .money is forthcoming, a start will be made with the survey early in January. i
