SLAUGHTERMEN'S WAGES.
TRADES COUNCIL PROTEST.
At a special meeting of the Auckland Trades and Labour Council last evening, the following resolution was passed and ordered to be forwarded to the Minister of Labour: —
"In the matter of the recent Auckland abattoirs dispute, this council is of the opinion that the Arbitration Court,' in making its award, did not take into consideration the evidence submitted at the hearing by the parties. The council also views with astonishment and alarm' the extraordinary action of the Court in considerably reducing the rates at pay of mutton slaughtermen without being requested to do so by any of the parties concerned in the dispute, and that the Minister of Labour be urged to hold an inquiry as to the method by which the Court arrived at its conclusions in making the award."
