ECONOMIC LAW.
Your correspondent Mr. Laudrfn apparently confuses the meaning of the term law-. Political economy is a fixed science. The laws appertaining to all fixed sciences are immutable. It is quite easy to understand MP[ political economy is not regarded as a »^ e<l science we ■ should never arrive at finality. There is nothing abstract in economics and we have tlie data at our finger ends. And;« should be remembered that a system cannot make a mistake. Men do. And what are the laws of true political economy? The human race has been squabbling over this question for'thousands of years. I am not at all surprised that your correspondent has arrived at some extraordinary deductions.' If econofliira is classified in the same category as a P^ udt) " science, Avhere nothing is fixed, he should no* trouble about it. The laws of polrtijai economy are'as immutable as 'those. apper tam " ing'.to the laws of gravitation. ; HERBERT MULVIHItL. .
