THEFT OF FISHING REEL
"QUITE UNPREMEDITATED."
YOUTH'S CASE ADJOURNED,
A youth of 18,-•- whose name was ordered to be suppressed, appeared at the Police Court this morning, when he pleaded, guilty to a charge of stealing a fishing reel worth £4 at Tauranga on June 1 last.
Detective Sergeant Bickerdike said the reel was left on a launch. Accused saidi he found: it on- a sack near the launch. He afterwards disposed of it for 12/6. Counsel said the theft was quite unpremeditated. Accused took a short cut home and came upon the reel, which jhe ■thought was,useless. It was quite trufe that he afterwards sold it for 12/6.. He , had never been in trouble before, and had.- a previous; good character. After warning the youth and advis-ing-him.to behave.himself in the future, Mr. F-.'-K. Huntj S.M., r said-he was no£ anxious (to start him'off-with a convicrtion.
