MINE MANAGERS' REPORTS.
Occidental Una.—Since my last report work in the mine has been confined to stoping on,, the hangingwall leader northwest of shaft. The leader in this stone will average about 10-inch wide of heavily mineralised ore. and at each breaking down during the week strong dabs and colours of gold were ito be seen freely, and when this stope is advanced up to the crossleader I expect to see even better gold make. The channel of country encasing the reef system is of a most congenial class for good gold being had in the ore body. Lucky Shot.—The mine manager reports that the rise for the stope above No. 2 winze is up 15ft The reef is 12in wide, and the ore is very heavily mineralised. The country rock on both walls is of the very best description, being interlaced with strong mineral seams running into the reef. The drive north of Xo. 2 winze at the intermediate level has been extended Sft. Gold can be seen freely in the reef; no quartz has been broken down from it during the week. The leading stope at this level is now along 22ft from the winze, and gold has been seen in the ore for- the whole of that distance, and the last shots fired brought down some nice pieces of specimen stone. '.' Golden Age.—The mine manager reports that the diive on Pox's leader has been ex- ; tended Oft for the week. The reef is 18in wide and is lying very flat at present and encased in a splendid class of country. The ore is carrying a little mineral and silica. Albtirnia.—The mine manager reports ■that the leading stope on the main Orlando lode has been carried along for a distance of 20ft and timbers put in the level. The reef here averages 3ft Oin wide, and still looks well, carrying nice mineral blende, antimony, silica, and a little ruby silver. Strong dabs of gold are still seen in the ore and 41b of picked stone had been selected for the week. . The rise on the cross leader from- the drive north on the hangingwall branch of the Orlando lode has been risen 6ft, a total of 37ft. The reef here averages Bin wide and the quartz looks well for making gold. There is water still coming .out of the, ,xeef. It looks as if there is a larger reef) tip above. '
Moanataiari.—The mtne manager reports: "The shaft has been' sunk a further distance of sft. a total of 22ft; we are still in splendid country. Only fire shifts were • worked in the shaft, as we had to take out 900 ft of pipes from the Inverness crosscut and Caledonia drive to make a water supply for the rock drill, which will be installed next week. The main water supply line was in a very bad state of repair, and it has taken ua all the week to put it in good order.
