, MOUNT ALBERT ROADS. REGULATING THE TRAFFIC. '. The Mount' Albert Borough Council, at its meeting last evening, the Mayor, Mr. L. E. Rhodes, presiding, decided, on the advice of the joint committee, during the progress of work on the Mount Albert Road to rope off and efficiently light three sections of the roadway. The council agreed that the centre strip between Vincent Road and the Mount Roskill boundary should be closed to vehicular traffic, and the concrete strip within the boundary open to one-way traffic only. The engineer was instructed to have the necessary warning signs erected, and to have a watchman continuously seeing, to the regulation of traffic. The council decided to ask the Automobile Association for its co-operation. Building permits issued during the three months ended October 31, represented a total value of £22,784 5/. There were 14 dwellings valued at £10,593, 12 additions and alterations at £2197, one motor concrete boot factory at £9619, and sundry structures at £375. The council resolved to forward a remit for consideration at next year's conference of the Municipal Association, proposing that all Crown properties should in the ordinary way be subject to rating.
